The English for Communication (EC) program provides a friendly environment in which students practice, improve and learn to enjoy communicative English. There are six levels ranging from Beginner to Advanced. All levels cover reading, writing, listening and speaking and focus on the practical use of English.

Students may begin the course on any Monday (please see our Term Calendar for exact dates). The average class size is eight students and never exceeds fourteen students to insure personal attention to each student.

One week mini-courses: Each week a new topic is addressed according to the schedule above. These courses are free standing and can be taken individually or, as a series. They can be completed in any order.

20 hours/week or 16 hours/week: The English for Business course is 16 hours per week.

Students at the Upper Intermediate to Advanced levels can improve their English for Business in this excellent course running several months each year. The course is designed to prepare ESL students for real situations in international business. Learn to prepare an English resume and CV, important English phrases and terms in meetings and business transactions, the delicate language of negotiation, good English for customer service and complaint resolution, and so much more!

The Cambridge English proficiency exams are widely accepted by universities and businesses as evidence of language ability. ICC has the experienced teachers and program design that will give you the advantage you need to succeed on the test!

We offer preparation courses for 3 levels: FCE, CAE and CPE. We also offer a 4-week Cambridge Workshop that focuses on the grammar/writing side of Cambridge for FCE & CAE levels.

ICC is one of only 23 locations in the U.S. approved to be an authorized provider of the Cambridge University Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA).

CELTA is a full-time, 4-week (40 hours/week) introductory course into the field of English language teaching. This course is for individuals who would like to transition into the field of ESL/EFL and those with teaching experience who would like to develop further professionally.

Every summer, teens are invited to join the conversation at ICC! Students from countries around the world, ages 13 to 18, join together for English lessons and daily outings and activities. Most students spend this time living with Host Families, also, and create new friendships and memories that will last a lifetime. ICC works with US Universities to offer smooth transitions for ESL students. We can design a special study program and offer just the help with English listening, speaking, reading and writing that you need to succeed in an all-English college environment.

With ICC’s Teen Summer Program, teens participate in intensive English classes in the morning and explore Hawaii in the afternoon together with other teen students from around the world, including Spain, Switzerland, Slovakia, Korea, and Japan, just to name a few. Students will be taken care of as part of the ICC Ohana (family), with 24-hour staff support and a safe and supportive learning environment.
