Galway Language Centre is a family-run adult English language school, established in 1987. Our school is located in a beautiful, renovated 18th century mill overlooking the River Corrib in the centre of Galway City, the cultural capital of the West Coast of Ireland. In this friendly and vibrant atmosphere, you will study English with our team of experienced senior teachers. We have a wide range of courses, including:

Courses



•20 group lessons per week (1 lesson = 45 minutes) •Timetabled 9.00-12.30, Monday to Friday •Minimum booking: 2 weeks •Starting dates: Any Monday, except where holidays are indicated •Maximum of 10 students in a group



•30 group lessons per week (1 lesson = 45 minutes) •Includes 10 lessons per week of special speaking and skills classes •Timetabled 9.00 - 12.30, Monday to Friday, plus 13.45-16.30, 3 afternoons per week •All other conditions as EG20 above •Maximum of 10 students in a group



Long Term (25 weeks tuition + 25 weeks holiday)



•4 group lessons per week (1 lesson = 45 minutes) •Timetabled 18.30–20.00 or 20.15–21.45, two evenings per week •General English and Exam Preparation courses



Closed group courses can be organized for groups of 5 up to 40. Courses are available for all ages including Juniors, 55+ and Adults. Courses can be designed and priced according to group needs. Types of courses taken include: • English plus Cultural Activities •English plus Examination Preparation (Cambridge / IELTS / TOEIC /TOEFL etc.) •English only •Other possibilities as required



•Available as a part-time afternoon group course, 10 lessons per week. •Lessons 3 afternoons per week - 13.45 -16.30. •Minimum booking 2 weeks.



•Available as a full-time group course, 20 or 30 lessons per week, plus 10, 15 or 20 private lessons per week (1 lesson = 45 minutes). •Timetable and special subjects negotiable



Private lessons (1:1 tuition) can also be booked for General English. 1 lesson = 45 minutes.



•For March examination: 20 lessons per week (1 lesson = 45 minutes), timetabled 9.00-12.30, Monday to Friday. Course is to be booked as 9 weeks of tuition and 10 weeks of accommodation •For June / December examination: 20 lessons per week (1 lesson = 45 minutes), timetabled 9.00-12.30, Monday to Friday. Course is to be booked as 12 weeks of tuition and 13 weeks of accommodation. •Express Preparation courses - 4 weeks duration for all exam dates.EGX20 Timetabled Monday to Friday 9 to 12.30. EGX30 Timetabled 9 to 12.30 Monday to Friday and 1.45 to 4.30 Tue/Wed/Thur. •Part-time Cambridge Examination preparation courses are also available in the afternoon or evening.



* CELT TEACHER TRAINING COURSE (Initial Qualification) + UNIVERSITY of CAMBRIDGE TKT KAL and TKT YL Certification •Classroom tuition with experienced, qualified TEFL trainers •Lesson observations in actual classrooms with bona-fide overseas students and experienced teachers •Individual tutorials •Project work •Access to a TEFL resource library •Supervised preparation for teaching practice •6 hours of assessed teaching practice with students from overseas •6 written assignments •6 half-hour feedback sessions with an assessor •Advice in seeking employment in Ireland and abroad •Full time courses timetabled as a 4-week course, consisting of 140+ hours(min. 100 contact hours). Maximum of 16 students to a group. •Part time courses timetabled as a 9 or 13 week course, consisting of 140+ hours(min. 100 contact hours). Maximum of 16 students to a group. *TKT (Teaching Knowledge Test) KAL (Knowledge and Language) and/or TKT ( Teaching Knowledge Test) YL (Younger Learners) The school is now recognised by University of Cambridge as a testing centre for the Cambridge Teacher Certificate TKT KAL and TKT YL. CELT candidates can add these qualifications to their certification with completion of the Cambridge TKT KAL and/or TKT YL examinations. This costs 75 each (150 each for external candidates) and can be booked (and taken) at Bridge Mills Galway Langauge Centre at the time of registration for CELT TEFL courses. Bridge Mills Galway Language Centre is the only school in Ireland offering this combination of certification (CELT + CAMBRIDGE TKT KAL + CAMBRIDGE TKT YL) for TEFL teachers.



•10 group lessons per week (1 lesson = 45 minutes) •Timetabled 13.45-16.30, 3 afternoons per week •Minimum booking: 2 weeks •Maximum of 10 students in a group •Skills based course - Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing focus.



•4 group lessons per week (1 lesson = 45 minutes) •Timetabled 18.30-20.00 or 20.15-21.45, two evenings per week •General English classes can be joined any week throughout the year •Evening Examination Preparation classes beginning in January for June Exams and in September for December and March Exams. IELTS year round •Minimum booking: 6 weeks •Maximum 12 students per class



Juniors aged 12 or older Closed groups •Min 10 students •Classes 9.00 to 12.30 - Closed groups •2 afternoon activities - including walking orientation tour of the city •Access to free afternoon lessons when teacher training courses run •Host family – full board – 2 or 3 students per family •1 free leader per 15 students •1 full day trip •Material included •Certificate at end of course •Test at start of course

Accommodation

Standard Host Family Accommodation: Single or double room with a shared family bathroom. Breakfast & evening meal Monday to Friday, full board Saturday & Sunday, including light laundry facilities.
En-suite Host Family Accommodation: Single or double room with a private bathroom en suite. Conditions as in Standard Accommodation. Availability of En-suite Accommodation is limited, so this type of accommodation should always be booked as far in advance as possible. Students can also arrange their own accommodation in hostels, B&Bs, shared flats, etc
