Description

The English author Samuel Johnson believed that if you are tired of London, you are tired of life, and here at CES we agree with him! London is a fantastic place to study English, full of history and exciting things to do. Our school is located in Wimbledon, home of the world-famous tennis club and one of London’s most desirable places to live, and has excellent facilities for students. Visit Buckingham Palace and Hyde Park, go shopping on London’s famous Oxford Street, enjoy the culture of its wonderful museums and go and see some of the greatest actors in the world in a play or musical in a West End theatre. The college has very good study, leisure and social facilities and a lively, varied activity programme all year.

Courses

The Standard General English Course takes place every morning from Monday to Friday, leaving you free every afternoon to join the Social Programme or study in our Self-Access facilities.

Your morning lessons are divided into two parts and you will usually be taught by two different teachers.

The Intensive General English Course (30 lessons a week) combines morning classes (09.30 -13.00) Monday to Friday (20 lessons) and afternoon classes Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays (14.00 - 16.30).

We focus on all four skills, speaking and listening, reading and writing, as well as grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Learning aims for the week are set and shared with students on Monday morning. These aims are reviewed again at the end of each week. You will also have regular progress tests to help you review your learning and measure your progress. In addition, you'll have monthly tutorials with your main teacher where you can discuss progress and needs in more detail.

*20 hours group class per week - 5 hours One-to-One

On our Combination Course, you will follow the Standard English Course in the mornings and you will also have 5 hours per week of individual one to one lessons.

These are designed to meet your individual needs and requirements and offer you the ideal opportunity to work on specific language problem areas with your own teacher.

If you plan to go to university in either Ireland or the UK then you need to take the IELTS examination.

CES will help you achieve your goal.

Students follow the Standard General English course in the mornings and take the IELTS preparation course three afternoons per week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. If you are starting your course at a low level you will be carefully encouraged and monitored in preparation for joining an IELTS Preparation Course. The ideal level for joining this course is intermediate (B1).

The Cambridge Examination Preparation Courses are designed to help you prepare for one of the following Cambridge Examinations:

*PET Preliminary English Course
*FCE First Certificate in English
*CAE Cambridge Advanced English

20 hours tuition per week
